On May 22, 2011, a catastrophic tornado ravaged the town of Joplin, MO killing approximately 160 people and destroying nearly 8,000 homes. In October, ABC's Extreme Home Makeover embarked on its biggest build ever: 7 homes in 7 days for 7 families. The project featured a team of local professional builders brought together to help rejuvenate the Joplin community and bring comfort to 7 families in desperate need of housing.

Travis was asked to lead the build of the "Modern House" for Crystal Cogdill and her son David. Crystal lost her 9 year old son Zach in the May tornado. Over 13,000 volunteers and thousands of skilled workers came together for one week to help build 7 new homes and refurbish a local park. The project was a great success and Crystal and her son have been enjoying their new home and rebuilding their lives.
